HIS Majesty Hamad and Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov yesterday witnessed the signing of several agreements to bolster economic, trade, investment, cultural and tourism co-operation.
They were signed after the leaders held official talks at Gudaibiya Palace.
His Majesty and President Berdimuhamedov also watched a show of Arabian horses and the visiting leader visited the Economic Development Board (EDB) in Bahrain Bay as well as the Bahrain National Museum.
He was welcomed at EDB by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, ministers and senior officials.
The Turkmen President was briefed about the promising opportunities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the services provided by EDB to investors and the board’s efforts to diversify the economic basis and promote investment between the Kingdom of Bahrain and global markets.
The agreements signed were:
An agreement establishing and operating air services, signed by Transportation and Telecommunications Minister of Mohammed Al Kaabi and Transport and Communications Agency director general Mamithan Chakiev.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for co-operation in the fields of crafts and traditional industries related to heritage. It was signed by Information Minister Dr Ramzan Al Nuaimi and Turkmen Culture Minister Atajildi Shamiradov.
MoU between Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies and the Institute of International Relations in Turkmenistan, signed by Under-Secretary for Political Affairs Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and Turkmen Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.
MoU to develop maritime navigation to enhance economic, trade and investment cooperation, signed by the Transportation and Telecommunications Minister and Turkmendenizderyayollary Agency president Anadurdi Kusayev.
MoU to develop co-operation in the field of railway transport signed by Minister Al Kaabi and Turkmendemiryollary president Izzat Atamiradov.
MoU for co-operation in the field of general, vocational and higher education between the two parties, signed by Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma and his counterpart Gurbangul Atayeva.
MoU to promote common interests in the fields of standardisation, certification, accreditation and measurement strengthen economic co-operation, facilitate trade. It was signed by Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro and Turkmen Finance and Economy Minister Sardar Gurayev.
Executive Programme between Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and Turkmen Culture Ministry for 2023-2027, signed by Information Minister Dr Ramzan Al Nauimi and Turkmen Culture Minister Atajildy Shamiradov.
Agreement granting the Turkmen government the status of an official partner for sea and air freight services to develop economic and trade relations, signed by the Industry and Commerce Minister and Transport and Communications Agency director general Mamithan Chakiev.
The King and the Turkmen President exchanged gifts on this occasion.
