A disgruntled employee who claimed he was fed up with the miserable atmosphere at work and suddenly quit has won a four-figure legal payout after his furious former bosses refused to pay him what he was owed.
A court has ordered a business solutions company to pay BD2,600 to the 30-year-old Albanian expatriate.
His lawyer Wadeea Albani filed a case at the High Labour Court requesting an indemnity payment and any unpaid salary. She claimed that the company, who her client had diligently worked for since 2019, did not want to give him his money due to him leaving at short notice.
The court ordered the company to pay up. “The lawyer presented sufficient information that proved her client worked for the company and had not received the money he was owed,” read the court ruling.
“The company did not provide any proof that it had given him his indemnity. In addition, he had not taken his annual holiday and was owed for that time. Therefore, the court ordered the company to pay him a total of BD2,600.”
Ms Albani said that her client felt forced to leave because of the ‘unpleasant working environment’.
“He felt that he was always being treated unfairly,” she claimed. “He then wanted to leave and officials at the company suggested he take the matter to court. It appeared they wanted to annoy him because he left and they wanted him to stay.”
