THE first woman to lead a Bahrain-based multi-nation naval coalition has been announced.
The US Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) in Bahrain said yesterday that Command Master Chief Celina Miller will be the next Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) senior enlisted leader to replace Marine Corps Sergeant Major Cortez Brown in May.
Command Master Chief Miller enlisted in the US Navy in 1998 and over the course of more than 24 years of service she has served aboard several ships, in addition to tours at sea.
She was deployed alongside the US Army’s 101st Airborne and 82nd Infantry Division in Afghanistan, and attended the Air Force Senior Enlisted Academy at Maxwell Air Force Base.
In 2016, she was selected to the Command Senior Chief programme and earned her Master’s degree in science.
Command Master Chief Miller has also previously served as the command master chief for the Juffair-based Fifth Fleet’s Task Force 55, responsible for US Navy surface forces operating in the Middle East.
CMF is the largest international naval partnership in the world consisting of 38 member-nations and partners.
It monitors some of the world’s busiest shipping lanes and spans more than two million square miles.
