The Civil Service Bureau (CSB) has issued an edict regulating the attendance system for employees in government agencies.
“The system aims to set unified and fair rules to control the attendance and departure of employees working in government agencies,” said chairman Ahmed Al Zayed yesterday.
The flexible window was approved by the weekly Cabinet session earlier this month.
The new policy will provide employees with a three-hour window to begin their workday to increase productivity.
Under the new format, employees are required to work for 36 hours per week – from 7am until 2.15pm from Sunday to Wednesday, and from 7am until 2pm on Thursday.
Under the extended system, employees will have to work for 40 hours per week – from 7am until 3pm from Sunday to Thursday.
The application of the flexible working system shall not exceed three flexible hours as a maximum.
The system will apply to all government employees under specific conditions, said Mr Al Zayed
However, the scheme will not apply to employees working according to the shift system, whose jobs require work around the clock, and those part-timers holding medical, educational and vital jobs, unless approved by CSB based on justifications provided by the government agency.
Employees are required to enter permits related to work or personal reasons for late attendance or early leave directly in the automatic or manual attendance system, indicating their reasons.
Each employee is entitled to four justified permits for personal reasons, provided that they do not exceed a full day’s working hours in a month.
