A KINDERGARTEN which operated without a licence for 11 months has been shut down.
The Education Ministry had allowed the institution a six-month grace period to regulate its situation.
The institution had failed to meet the requirements of its licence which expired in August 2022 and had no valid commercial registration, officials added.
In a statement yesterday, the ministry said that the closure of the institution took effect at the end of last month.
The Directorate of Licensing and Early Education Follow-up said that employees would not be hit by the decision and would be offered transfers to other kindergartens.
Children will also be transferred to new nurseries from Tuesday with parents paying the same fees or less. No extra fees would be imposed on families unless the children’s registration in the closed kindergarten had expired.
The owner of the institution has been convicted by a court for attacking government authorities, defaming an official and illegally targeting the ministry through social media outlets.
