A registered letter was sent to Pakistan on December 12, 2023 from Manama Post Office. The last Bahrain Post tracking entry is dated December 28: “Departure from origin border point.”
Thereafter, there is no entry.
The Pakistan Post tracking entry reads: “Bahrain: 28 December 2023. Send item abroad (ED1 received).”
In simple language, this means that the item is still “sleeping” somewhere in Bahrain!
In the past, we were told that all outward mail leaves Bahrain within 24 hours.
A similar thing happened about seven months back. At that time, I received a call from a woman who told me that a registered letter takes a month to read the addressee. On my pointing out that an official schedule of the department reads that in the region comprising Pakistan and India, a registered letter reaches in 6-10 days she said it was wrong and a routine publication!
I remember back in the day Pakistan Post had this system where they posted letters to random people asking them to reply through the self-addressed stamped envelope, mentioning the date and time of the letter, the date they were dropping in their replies and at which letter box. The department used the responses to analyse the performance of the area postman and the field staff assigned to clear the letter boxes.
While recovering from a bad Covid attack, I posted a letter to myself on September 28, 2023, October 31, 2023 and December 22, 2023. To date, I have not received any of them!
