Three have-a-go brothers stepped into the deep end to assist stranded motorists as heavy downpours caught out commuters as they struggled to drive home.
The siblings – Salman, Khalid and Saud Bukhari – were driving through Isa Town on Monday night when they spotted numerous vehicles struggling in the conditions with some unable to move.
Spurred on by a sense of responsibility, the Good Samaritans pushed cars, minibuses and even lorries out of the flooded areas to enable them to drive safely and onward to their destinations.
They were later joined by more ‘downpour heroes’ arriving at the scene, including several police officers.
“It was an honour to help the people,” said businessman Salman Bukhari. “It was a difficult situation, but it brought a lot of people together and brought the best out of humanity, it was an amazing feeling.”
Another flood hero to rise up to the occasion was Bahraini administrator Ammar Al Khaldi. The 30-year-old helped scores of motorists in Budaiya and Salman Town using his beloved Hummer to pull broken down vehicles out of the water.
“I helped more than 40 motorists in the past two days in different areas of the country,” said Mr Al Khaldi who even posted his contact details on social media with a picture of the go-anywhere mean machine.
“Their vehicles were stuck in deep water due to the heavy rain and I towed them free using my Hummer truck,” he explained.
“I only slept for two hours yesterday as people started calling non-stop for assistance. I was more than happy to help.”
