The Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) has announced that a leak in one of the oil tanks belonging to Bapco Energies in Sitra has been contained.
The limited technical defect was a result of the weather conditions and heavy rains that Bahrain had witnessed during the past two days.
SCE stated that as soon as the leak was detected, necessary measures were taken in co-operation with the relevant authorities.
The area surrounding the site was closed and measures were immediately taken to contain the leak and rectify the defect, the statement said.
The council praised the Interior Ministry, Civil Defence and the Bapco Energies team for their swift response.
