THREE leading banks in Bahrain have announced the temporary closure of their branches in Sitra from yesterday.
The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) and Ahli United Bank Bahrain posted the closure notices on their social media accounts.
The Labour Market Regulatory Authority also announced closure of its enforcement branch in Sitra Industrial Area until tomorrow, with business resuming normally on Sunday.
Bapco Refining has said that emergency teams continue to take appropriate measures to contain a leak at one of its naphtha tanks in Sitra.
Public and private schools have switched to remote learning until the end of the week.
The government has assured citizens and residents that the air quality in the country remained ‘safe’ and the operation to rectify a ‘limited defect’ that led to an oil tank leak is ongoing.
Naphtha is a flammable liquid hydrocarbon mixture and its exposure may cause headache, dizziness, light-headedness and fainting.
