Heavy rainfall across the southern Indian state of Kerala has triggered multiple landslides and flash floods, leaving at least six people dead and several others missing.
The continuous downpour on Monday prompted widespread evacuations and emergency rescue operations across vulnerable areas in Idukki, Kottayam, and Malappuram districts.
Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan has directed officials to monitor the situation hourly and execute immediate evacuation measures where necessary.
Authorities have advised residents living near steep slopes, rivers, and landslide-prone areas to remain on high alert and relocate to relief camps if instructed.
