HANDBALL – Al Ahli were crowned champions on Tuesday of this season’s Diyar Al Muharraq Bahrain Handball Cup after defeating Al Dair 36-33 in overtime in an exciting final played at the Bahrain Handball Federation Arena in Um Al Hassam.
Ahli’s Ali Mirza scored from the penalty stripe with no time remaining in regulation to send the contest into the extra session.
Dair had roared back from being down 12-17 at the halfway stage to take the lead in the final minutes, only for Mirza to deliver his end-game heroics and extend the match.
Following play, the winners and runners-up were presented trophies and medals by officials.
