Official statistics released by the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry through the National Open Data Portal revealed that Bahrain’s judicial system continued to achieve strong performance indicators in 2025.
Courts across all levels handled more than 66,000 new cases, while recording resolution and completion rates that reflected the efficiency of judicial procedures and the swift adjudication of disputes.
The data showed that 66,190 new cases were filed before the courts in 2025, while 67,533 cases were resolved in the same year, demonstrating the judiciary’s ability to address both newly filed and pending cases simultaneously.
Courts of First Instance accounted for the largest share of cases, receiving 51,380 new filings. These courts resolved 52,869 cases, achieving a completion rate of 103 per cent, while the average case duration stood at just 3.1 months.
Meanwhile, the Courts of Appeal registered 12,080 new cases and resolved 11,789 cases, recording a resolution rate of 98pc. The average litigation period at this level fell to 1.8 months, the shortest among all judicial tiers.
The Court of Cassation received 2,730 new cases and resolved 2,875 cases, achieving a resolution rate of 105pc. This contributed to reducing the number of pending cases to 541 by the end of the year.
On the judicial services front, the ministry completed 6,718 transactions related to inheritance, endowments, and gifts, while transactions involving minors reached 21,425.
In addition, private notaries processed 92,093 notarisation transactions, reflecting growing reliance on legal authentication services and the continued development of judicial services provided to citizens and residents.
