A tree-planting event was held yesterday at the Isa Town Jogging Track to enhance greenery in the area.
The event was organised by the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) in collaboration with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) to mark World Environment Day, observed annually on June 5.
It aimed to promote environmental awareness, encourage tangible action, and bring together NBB leadership and employees to foster collective engagement.
NBB Group chief strategy and sustainability officer Zaina Alzayani stated that the collaboration with NIAD would support efforts to enhance Bahrain’s natural landscape and strengthen a shared sense of responsibility.
“The real measure of any sustainability commitment is not what is announced in a single year, but what continues to be achieved and built upon over time,” said Ms Alzayani.
“This activity reinforces our belief that every deliberate effort, irrespective of scale, can help shape healthier communities throughout the kingdom.”
NIAD business development director Dr Asma Ali said collaborations with leading institutions play a key role in advancing Bahrain’s afforestation efforts and encouraging public participation in environmental initiatives.
“It reflects the value of co-ordinated action in enhancing urban spaces and promoting ecological consciousness among citizens and residents,” said Dr Ali.
Through such joint endeavours, we are playing our part in elevating the quality of life across the kingdom, in line with the national objectives towards environmental conservation.”
