The initiative by His Majesty King Hamad, president of the current session of the Arab Summit, to hold an international conference for peace in the Middle East has been discussed at a key meeting.
Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani briefed his counterparts from the West on the initiative during a meeting yesterday.
The meeting included ambassadors Clemens Hach, Germany; Eric Giraud-Telme, France; Alastair Long, Britain; Andrea Catalano, Italy; and Elizabeth Hattingh, US Embassy’s chief of the political and economic section.
The Foreign Minister and the ambassadors discussed Bahrain’s distinguished relations with their countries and means to develop them in various fields, latest regional political developments, and regional and international efforts to maintain regional security and stability.
They also exchanged views on enhancing efforts aimed at achieving just and sustainable peace in the region, including the initiative which aims to establish an independent Palestinian state and accept it as a full member of the United Nations.
They also touched upon the initiative announced by US President Joe Biden for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, protect civilians, release detainees and deliver aid.
