Five days after setting sail, an Omani fishing boat carrying two fishermen was discovered abandoned at sea. The vessel was found northeast of Suhar, with no sign of the crew.
The fishermen, who have been missing since last Tuesday, departed from the Qurum area of Muscat on a routine fishing trip. The Maritime Security Centre reported the discovery of the boat on its online platforms and confirmed that search and rescue operations are underway.
A video showed the boat being towed to shore from a distance of 45 nautical miles. The absence of any clues on board has left the fate of the two fishermen unknown.
