Central Bank of Bahrain Governor Khalid Humaidan participated in the 83rd meeting of the GCC Central Bank Governors Committee in Doha.
During the meeting, a number of topics on the agenda related to the work of the Gulf central banks were discussed, as well as ways to enhance co-operation in the banking sector, and other topics of common interest, in addition to adopting relevant decisions.
Mr Humaidan also participated as a keynote speaker in the first dialogue session of the first annual conference to activate joint Gulf work in the field of the GCC Central Bank Governors Committee, held on the sidelines of the meeting titled “The Impact of Exchange Rate Policy on Financial and Monetary Stability in the GCC Countries”.
The session addressed the impact of exchange rate policy on financial and monetary stability in the GCC countries, the exchange rate stabilisation policy, and the extent to which a stable exchange rate can improve economic diversification.
CBB director of the follow-up department Nawaf Al Bubshait took part in the third dialogue session on fraud and cybersecurity in the era of financial technology.
The conference aims to highlight the significant progress achieved by the GCC countries in the field of financial and banking services, discuss the significant and growing role of central banks in the GCC countries in the global financial system, and shed light on the efforts of central banks in financial stability and risk management.
The participating delegation included officials from the CBB and senior officials in the financial services sector in the kingdom.
