His Majesty King Hamad yesterday stressed the urgent need to end the suffering of innocent Palestinian civilians caught in the brutal Gaza conflict.
He reiterated the importance of containing escalation in the region and preventing further crises that could threaten its stability.
The King emphasised the necessity of an immediate and lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to facilitate humanitarian aid when he received His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at Sakhir Palace.
His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Royal Court Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and His Majesty’s adviser for cultural and scientific affairs Hala Al Ansari attended the meeting.
His Majesty called for a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.
He also underlined the importance of ending the escalation in Lebanon, preserving its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
Israel’s offensive on Gaza has killed more than 42,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s health ministry, and displaced nearly all of the enclave’s population of 2.3 million resulting in starvation and diseases.
His Majesty reaffirmed Bahrain’s support for all regional and international efforts aimed at preventing further conflict and tension, ensuring the well-being and development of the people of the region as well as fulfilling their aspirations for growth and prosperity.
The meeting addressed local matters and reviewed the ongoing efforts to bolster the achievements of the kingdom across all sectors.
It also discussed the latest key regional and international developments.
His Majesty expressed his pride in the dedication of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister in advancing the quality of government services provided to citizens, in line with the increasing pace of growth across various sectors in Bahrain.
The King commended HRH Prince Salman’s continuous efforts to consolidate the kingdom’s position and enhance its competitiveness and leading role regionally and globally.
He said that efforts will continue to drive advancement and development, to ensure that Bahrain remains a modern and progressive nation.
His Majesty also expressed pride in the unity and cohesion of the people of Bahrain, recognising their shared responsibility in building the nation’s security and prosperity.
He highlighted the upcoming third session of the sixth legislative term for the Shura Council and Parliament, expressing confidence in a new phase of productive co-operation between the legislative and executive authorities.
