A hired killer out on bail decided to go to the police after not being paid for a killing in India's Uttar Pradesh.
Neeraj Sharma, a contract killer, was hired along with several others to murder a lawyer named Anjali Garg last year. In June 2023, Anjali was shot by two people while returning home from a dairy.
Sharma and five others were arrested for the murder but were released on bail a year later.
As soon as Sharma was released, he went to those who hired him to collect his remaining payment. He was promised Rs20 lakh (equivalent to around BD9,000) for the killing but was only given an advance payment of Rs1 lakh (BD450).
Sharma then went to the police to reveal that it was the victim's in-laws who hired him and hadn’t paid him. He shared call recordings of the in-laws as evidence.
According to a spokesperson, his claims “cannot be trusted on the face of him being a criminal under trial. Only after the establishment of the claims will the next course of action be decided.”
