A five-day celebration was organised by Riffa Views International School (RVIS) to mark Bahrain’s National Day.
Students, parents and staff came together to honour the kingdom’s traditions through engaging activities and performances that reflected Bahrain’s authenticity and history.
The celebrations began with the ‘Traditional Chest’ activity, where students engraved their names on a wooden chest, symbolising their connection to Bahrain’s legacy.
The following day featured Palm Tree Leaves Weaving (Al Khous), a traditional craft session where participants learned the art of weaving palm leaves into various items.
On the third day, students explored Bahrain’s pearling heritage and gained insight into the types of pearls and traditional extraction methods.
A variety of cultural programmes were held the following day. Female students engaged in henna art while others explored the craftsmanship of building traditional dhow boats. Students learned about the significance of dhows in Bahrain’s maritime history and the various types used for fishing and pearl diving, such as Al Banoush and Al Shuai.
The celebrations culminated in a vibrant National Day event. Attendees donned traditional Bahraini attire and enjoyed a morning filled with patriotic activities, including poetry, fashion show, and the traditional Bahraini Ardah dance. The school grounds came alive with joy and pride as students and families celebrated together.
The event underscored RVIS’s dedication to cultivating a deep respect for Bahrain’s cultural heritage among its students, ensuring these values endure for generations.
