Around 3,000 people attended the annual Pongal festival at the Indian Club, Manama.
Annai Tamil Mandram (ATM) organised the annual harvest event which featured a variety of activities and traditional food served on banana leaves.
The celebration also featured women’s sporting activities, a tug-of-war competition for men and women, a kolam competition, Pongal cooking and Uriyadithal, a traditional game.
Prizes were awarded to people who competed. A traditional dance, Kummiyattam, was also performed by 100 women to mark the occasion.
Special guests at the event were Capital Governorate information and follow-up director Yusuf Lori and MP Mohammed Janahi.
Also attending were ATM president Senthil G K and other members.
