The Riffa Views International School (RVIS) recently held the closing ceremony for its Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) International Science and Technology Initiatives (MISTI) programme.
A total of 111 high school students, representing 18 public and private schools in Bahrain, graduated from the initiative, which is the first global programme specialising in advanced robotics technology for school students, supervised by MIT certified trainers.
Held at RVIS’s campus for the third year, students showcased their completed projects which were developed through technical workshops at the innovation hub. They included large robotic arms, remotely senses autonomous vehicles and solar powered cars.
The ceremony was attended by Education Ministry Under-Secretary Nawal Al Khater, along with several ministry officials, students’ families, representatives of participating schools, RVIS faculty and staff and board of trustees members.
“The projects completed by the students demonstrated their excellence, success and comprehensive understanding of the technical skills needed in computer science and robotics engineering,” said Ms Al Khater.
“We aim to continue supporting these types of educational programmes that contribute to developing students’ capabilities with the latest technologies and systems and hone their talents to achieve the highest levels of quality and excellence.”
RVIS board of trustees chairman Hisham Alraee reiterated the school’s ongoing partnership with the MISTI programme to enhance innovation with modern learning, maximising the benefits for students and refining their talents with the most advanced and evolving technologies. He also commended the support the project receives from the Education Ministry.
