Twelve Bahraini entrepreneurs pitched their innovative business ideas to investors and industry leaders at the Labour Fund (Tamkeen)’s Mashroo3i programme finale.
The event connected these promising individuals with key stakeholders in Bahrain’s startup ecosystem, fostering networking, expert consultation, and potential partnerships to accelerate venture growth.
The finalists showcased the results of an intensive eight-week bootcamp designed to refine their entrepreneurial skills and transform concepts into actionable projects. Participants developed startups during the bootcamp, gaining access to support programmes to facilitate their market entry.
Mashroo3i empowers Bahrainis to pursue entrepreneurship by providing the knowledge, guidance, and resources needed for successful business launches. The programme aligns with Tamkeen’s broader objective of increasing Bahraini contributions to economic development and cultivating a new generation of innovators to lead the future of entrepreneurship in the kingdom.
Sixty-three teams initially participated in the bootcamp, undergoing a rigorous two-phase qualification process. The first phase focused on project ideation and feasibility assessment, while the second provided specialised consultations to enhance participants’ skills and expand their professional networks. The top 12 finalists then advanced to the final pitch event.
The demo day highlighted diverse innovative concepts spanning sectors like technology, healthcare, tourism and entertainment, transportation, and logistics. The proposed solutions addressed existing challenges, increasing their potential for success and sustainability.
Tamkeen prioritises supporting Bahrain’s startup ecosystem. Last year, 2,780 startups received support through various Tamkeen programmes designed to facilitate private sector launches. The organisation also collaborates with leading financial institutions to offer tailored financing solutions, with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) representing nearly 52 per cent of all funding requests.
Launched in 2012, Mashroo3i has been instrumental in helping Bahraini entrepreneurs launch innovative ideas and new projects. The programme’s success stories underscore the importance of early-stage entrepreneurial support, providing aspiring entrepreneurs with opportunities to refine their business ideas, access specialised support, and secure the financial backing needed to transform innovative concepts into sustainable businesses.
Through Mashroo3i, Tamkeen aims to generate quality employment opportunities for local talent and deliver innovative solutions that contribute to national economic growth and diversification by highlighting entrepreneurs capable of turning pioneering ideas into thriving businesses.
