Government services will now be available through only three main applications: MyGov for citizens and residents, Al Tajir for businesses and Bahrain Tourism for visitors from outside the kingdom.
Tawasul and Mawaeed will both continue to function as normal and the services are not expected to move to any of the main applications.
MyGov is expected to provide 41 different services from nine government agencies, with more to be added in the near future.
Once logged in, it will not only automatically display the basic information of the user such as the CPR, but is also expected to display official documents, certificates, achievements and vaccination certificates.
Users can select any service from their main page and pay for any relevant action using a safe and secure software that will also display a history of payments. In case of any issues, assistance, or questions, users can also contact a customer service agent live from the application itself.
Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) chief executive Mohammed Al Qaed praised the level of dedication and commitment from government agencies in the kingdom, stating that it was due to their efforts that the application has been released.
“Last year, in September, Bahrain was ranked amongst the elite when it came to digital transformation and eGovernment services,” said Mr Al Qaed. “This would not have been possible without the tireless work of everyone on the application, as well as that of public agencies.
“This is only the beginning, and we will continue to work on and improve the programme in the coming months and add more services.”
The iGA also announced the launch of eKey 2.0 in collaboration with Beyon Connect, part of the Beyon Group, in the presence of chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, as well as key officials, and industry representatives from companies that are amongst the first to adopt the new eKey 2.0 system.
The upgraded eKey system, now supported by a dedicated mobile application, enables citizens and residents to seamlessly access a wide range of services through biometric authentication, eliminating the need for passwords.
Beyon Connect chief executive Christopher Hild highlighted the system’s application in banking, finance, telecommunications and healthcare and noted that in its first phase, the enhanced eKey system will be integrated with services from more than 14 government and private sector entities, including MyGov, bahrain.bh national portal, and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, as well as a number of leading banks and telecom companies.
The new applications are available on the e-government application store bahrain.bh/apps and the iOS, Android and Huawei app stores.
