A new one-stop application that includes all relevant government services, including CPR and passport details, was unveiled yesterday during a ceremony held at the Gulf Convention Centre in Manama.
MyGov, an application that combines 41 services into one ‘easy-to-use’ programme, will act as one of three major hubs, alongside Al Tajir and Bahrain Tourism. It was developed by the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA).
Combined with the new and improved eKey2.0, which brings with it enhanced security features, it is expected to revolutionise digital services in the kingdom for citizens and residents alike.
It was unveiled by Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, in co-operation with iGA chief executive Mohammed Al Qaed. Notable attendees included Health Minister Dr Jalila Al Sayyed, Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma, Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi and Oil and Environment Minister Dr Mohammed Bin Daina.
Speaking at the event, Gen Shaikh Rashid stated that the new application comes as part of efforts to strengthen the trust of users in national digital initiatives and to facilitate government processes as part of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad, as well as those of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
“The Interior Ministry, in co-operation with the iGA, has worked hard to provide a smart, comprehensive platform that will serve the people of the kingdom,” said Gen Shaikh Rashid.
“Bahrain has always strived to provide the best possible services for the people and the MyGov application will aim to make official processes not just easier, but also faster.
“Instead of needing to download multiple applications, everything has been moved to just one programme. Most of the services will be available on the application and programmes such as BeAware and Wejhaty will move all functionalities to MyGov.
“Additionally, it will be supported by the new eKey2.0, which will eliminate the need for passwords and make the app only accessible on one smartphone at a time, enhancing security and minimising the risk of hackers getting into your profile.”
