The Urban Planning and Development Authority (UPDA) has obtained the ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management from Bureau Veritas, recognising its commitment to the highest quality standards across all operations.
The certification underscores UPDA’s ability to deliver high-quality services and implement urban development projects in line with international standards, reinforcing its position as a leading institution in urban planning and development.
ISO 9001:2015 is a global certification awarded to organisations that maintain an effective quality management system, adopt innovative procedures to enhance internal performance, and consistently meet customer needs.
Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayat, UPDA CEO, noted that the certification reflects the authority’s continuous efforts to enhance service quality and institutional performance, ensuring that projects align with global best practices and contribute to sustainable urban development.
Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Head of the ISO certification compliance team, highlighted that the achievement reinforces UPDA’s commitment to transparency and efficiency, with automation enhancing operations and service delivery.
UPDA has also introduced specialised training programmes and workshops to enhance employee skills in applying global quality standards, further improving service delivery.
The Civil Service Bureau (CSB) played an important role in coordinating and supporting the project, overseeing its implementation through a structured five-phase plan, including quality culture promotion, documentation, training, auditing, and advisory support on technology adoption.
