Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday received Information and eGovernment Authority chief executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, who presented him with the upgraded version of the new identity card.
The card is a key strategic project recently launched alongside the Innovation Lab and the self-service centre. Shaikh Khalid highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to advancing its digital infrastructure in line with international standards. He emphasised that such efforts support the government’s efforts to enhance services for citizens and facilitate business operations.
The Deputy Prime Minister was briefed on the new card’s advanced security, technical and digital features. Mr Al Qaed separately met His Majesty’s Special Representative Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa and presented him with the new card.
Shaikh Mohammed commended the Ministerial Committee for Information Technology and Communication, chaired by Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, as well as the iGA and relevant entities, for their role in implementing these strategic projects that support Bahrain’s digital transformation.
