Supreme Council for Health (SCH) chairman Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa has been re-elected chairman of the board of directors of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS).
Also elected to board during the group’s ordinary general assembly at its headquarters in the Diplomatic Area were Ali Murad (vice chairman), Mubarak Al Hadi (secretary general), Hassan Juma (financial secretary) and Faisal Al Moussawi, Dr Fawzi Amin, Dr Maryam Al Hajri, Dr Kawthar Al Eid, Dr Nilofer Jahromi and Adel Al Jar as members.
At the meeting the society’s literary and financial reports were approved while the board was briefed on the society’s relief and humanitarian work and initiatives over the past two years.

Also reviewed were the society’s response to regional relief appeals issued by the general secretariat of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organisation, as well as international appeals issued by the International Federation of Red Cross Societies, in order to contribute to alleviating the plight of victims of disasters and wars.
The society’s support to the Gaza Strip in partnership with a number of civil and charitable organisations in Bahrain, as well as relief initiatives for individuals impacted by the Libyan floods and the earthquake in Morocco were discussed.
The meeting also explained the society’s efforts to continue assisting recipients in Bahrain, including financial aid to around 2,000 needy families.
Plans to launch programmes in partnership with NGOs in the kingdom to offer wheelchairs, medical beds and clothing were discussed.
