Bahrain has welcomed ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, commending recent phone calls by the US President Donald Trump with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a positive step towards a ceasefire and the promotion of regional and international peace.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry expressed Bahrain’s appreciation for the diplomatic efforts of Saudi Arabia and its leading role in hosting new US-Russia talks in Jeddah on Sunday to address the Ukraine crisis.
It also lauded the successful mediation efforts of the UAE in facilitating a new prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine, involving 350 detainees from both sides.
The ministry stressed Bahrain’s firm stance in supporting regional and international efforts to reach a comprehensive and lasting political solution to the Russia-Ukraine war through dialogue and negotiations, while mitigating its humanitarian consequences.
It emphasised that such efforts should align with international law, the United Nations Charter, and UN Security Council Resolution 2774, contributing to enhanced security, stability, and sustainable peace at regional and global levels.
