Providing promising opportunities for citizens and enhancing the quality and efficiency of government services to spur economic growth are key objectives in the state budget 2025-2026, several government ministries have said.
The new budget reflects commitment to creating jobs for Bahrainis through the Labour Ministry’s programmes for 2025-2026, according to a report in our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
These schemes aim to employ 25,000 Bahrainis annually, including 8,000 new entrants into the labour market.
Among the new initiatives of the Labour Ministry is also the formation of marketing teams to support the Job Vacancy Bank with high-quality positions, ensuring suitable opportunities for jobseekers based on market demands, it said.
Additionally, a platform will be launched to facilitate job transitions and career advancement within the private sector, allowing employees to register for new opportunities and enabling jobseekers to access available positions.
Regarding training programmes, the government has set a goal of training 15,000 Bahrainis annually.
It also plans to develop and launch a specialised training platform by 2026, which will register private training institutions, their programmes and training courses, and connect them with jobseekers, the report added.
As for the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), its objectives for 2025-2026 include allocating BD280 million to finance its programmes and supporting 50,000 Bahrainis annually in employment and career development.
This includes assisting 13,000 new entrants to the labour market through initiatives such as the National Employment Programme, on-the-job training programmes, vocational training, apprenticeship programmes, private employment centres and specialised training programmes for jobseekers.
Meanwhile, the Education Ministry has highlighted its top priorities for 2025-2026, focusing on strengthening the sector with skilled Bahraini professionals.
This includes increasing the capacity of Bahrain Teachers College by 20 per cent for diploma and professional programmes, enrolling 323 students in the current academic year and hiring its graduates by announcing new vacancies.
Furthermore, 300 students will be admitted to the Bachelor of Education programme in the next academic year and 275 will be appointed as teachers.
Additionally, the ministry aims to expand professional development programmes for career advancement by enrolling 1,200 teachers in vocational training programmes.
