VOLLEYBALL – BAHRAIN have signed former France international and ex-Olympian Arnaud Josserand as the new head coach of the senior men’s volleyball national team.
This was announced by the Bahrain Volleyball Association.
Josserand steps in following the end of Bahrain’s contract with former lead tactician Jorge Elgueta from Argentina, who guided the nationals to the title in the 23rd Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship, which was hosted by the kingdom.
It was the third time Bahrain were crowned Arab champions, following the other times in 1992 and 2008.
Josserand is a multiple title-winning coach, with plenty of experience across Europe as well as in Saudi Arabia.
He was part of the coaching staff of the French team that clinched the men’s volleyball gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
As a player, the former middle-blocker competed at the highest levels of the game, including the world and European championships as well as the Barcelona 1992 Olympics, among others.
One of the upcoming major events Josserand will be in charge of Bahrain is the 2025 AVC Challenge Cup for Men, scheduled to be held between June 22 and 29 in the kingdom.
