The rapidly changing global economy requires Arab nations to boost their adaptability and resilience to effectively tackle challenges and achieve sustainable development, a Bahrain Chamber official has said.
Waleed Kanoo, vice-treasurer and head of the steering committee of the Bahrain Chamber, speaking at the 51st Arab Labour Conference in Egypt, emphasised the urgent need for Arab economies to shift from traditional models towards more diverse and innovation-driven approaches.
Representing Bahrain Chamber chairman Sameer Nass, Mr Kanoo referred to the outcomes of the recent Arab League summit in Bahrain, which stressed the importance of joint Arab action to ensure regional security and stability, and to deepen co-operation across sectors. He affirmed the Bahrain Chamber’s commitment to strengthening ties among Arab private sectors and fostering economic partnerships within the region.
Mr Kanoo highlighted that collaboration between the public and private sectors is crucial for overcoming regional economic challenges and achieving long-term sustainable growth.
He also congratulated the Arab Labour Organisation on its 60th anniversary, commending its work in promoting social justice and balanced labour relations through dialogue between governments, employers, and workers.
He stressed that the current global complexities present a vital opportunity for enhanced Arab co-ordination to address pressing economic issues and prioritise policies that stimulate sustainable development and create decent employment.
