Football – AL Ahli romped to an emphatic win over title holders Muharraq 2-1 in the final match of round 20 of the 2024-2025 Nasser bin Hamad Premier League at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium.
Ahli’s goals were scored by Baqer Al Asfoor in the 17th minute and Abdullah Al Hashash five minutes into the additional time of the first half. Muharraq’s lone goal came from Mohammed Al Hardan 12 minutes after the end of the official time from a penalty kick. With this victory, Ahli raised their tally to 23 points while Muharraq remained at 47 points.
In another exciting fixture, Shabab staged a comeback to defeat Riffa 3-1 at the Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium in Arad.
Shabab’s goals were netted by Riyadh Adbowikiken after two minutes in the additional time of the first half, Abdulrahman Ali in the 59th minute, and Hussain Al Qassab in the 88th minute. Ali Haram scored Riffa’s only goal in the 44th minute from a penalty. The result saw Shabab improve their points tally to 26 while Riffa remained at 34 points.
At the Bahrain National Stadium, A’ali secured a dramatic late victory over East Riffa with a 1-0 scoreline. The match-winning goal came from the standout Irish player Clyde O’Connell in the 93rd minute. With this win, A’ali now sit at 23 points while East Riffa’s tally remains at 19 points.
