The Saudi Interior Ministry of Interior announced that the Haj Security Forces at the entrances to Mecca arrested seven residents and five citizens for violating Haj regulations by transporting a total of 33 individuals without permits to perform Haj.
The ministry issued administrative decisions through seasonal administrative committees against the transporters, their accomplices, and those transported. According to the decisions, penalties included imprisonment, fines of up to SAR100,000, public naming of violators, deportation of the residents, and a 10-year ban on re-entering the Saudi Arabia following the completion of their sentences.
The ministry called for judicial confiscation of vehicles used in the unauthorised transport of pilgrims and the imposition of a fine of up to SAR20,000 on those who attempted to perform Haj without a permit.
The ministry urged all citizens and residents to comply with Haj regulations and instructions to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims as they perform their rituals.
