HORSERACING – MY Cloud, owned by Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, raced to a sensational victory yesterday at Royal Ascot in the UK.
The Roger Varian-trained four-year-old, competing for KHK Racing Ltd, took first place in the class two Royal Hunt Cup – a race held over eight furlongs.
Jockey Silvestre De Sousa steered My Cloud to the win. They travelled strongly throughout the race and won in one minute 38.10 seconds against a highly competitive field of 30 horses.
My Cloud finished three-quarter lengths ahead of runner-up Bullet Point, racing for owners The Marathon Partnership, while Bopedro was third for owner Georginio Rutter.
Following the race, Shaikh Khalid, who is the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president, extended his sincerest congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as well as to His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and SCYS chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, on the victory.
