The consumption of two bottles of what are commonly known as ‘energy drinks’ has tragically led to the death of a 16-year-old boy in Muharraq Governorate.
The boy’s father revealed that his son had suffered a severe collapse in blood circulation, which ultimately caused his death.
He told our sister newspaper Akhbar Al Khaleej, the incident occurred last week and the boy was rushed to hospital but passed away soon after.
He said the forensic medical report confirmed that the cause of death was acute circulatory collapse following the consumption of the drink, and added that the family had not been aware their son was consuming energy drinks.
He urged all parents to caution their children about the dangers of such beverages, which may pose serious risks to their lives. MP Khalid Bu Onk said that he would raise the issue in the next parliamentary session. He added that he had discussed the incident with the Health Ministry.
