HORSERACING – MUNICIPALITIES Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael Al Mubarak made an inspection visit to Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC), accompanied by Works Ministry Undersecretary Shaikh Mishal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Buraq Al Retaj Company managing director Dr Maher Al Shaer.
The delegation reviewed ongoing afforestation work at the club’s facilities, in the presence of REHC CEO Yusuf Buheji and a number of officials.
The minister affirmed that efforts to expand green cover in Bahrain are guided by a comprehensive national vision, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and developing green infrastructure across government projects and facilities.
He noted that these efforts are supported by community partnerships and policies aligned with the National Afforestation Plan, which targets the planting of 3.6 million trees by 2035.
He highlighted the development achieved by the club under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister’s Court Minister and REHC High Committee chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, affirming the importance of maintaining an integrated green environment that enhances its standing as a leading sporting and tourism destination.
The ministry confirmed that the visit comes within its plan to expand tree planting across government facilities and public spaces, contributing to climate change mitigation, environmental protection, sustainability, and the goal of carbon neutrality, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Buheji affirmed the club’s support for national initiatives, noting that the afforestation plan enhances the club’s environmental, agricultural, and aesthetic development.
He commended the ministry’s efforts to implement the plan and increase tree planting across the kingdom in support of sustainability and environmental preservation.
