A Bahraini has made history after he was elected president of the Young Diplomats in London (YDL).
Talal Al Absi, a counsellor and diplomat at Bahrain’s Embassy in London, has become the first-ever GCC diplomat to hold the post since the association was founded 17 years ago.
Mr Al Absi expressed his gratitude to Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps and Bahrain’s Ambassador to the UK Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
He also thanked the young Arab members of the YDL for their support.
Bahrain’s assumption of the presidency underscores the active engagement of its diplomats in both official and informal events in London, as well as the confidence placed in them by diplomats from allied and partner nations.
Established in 2008, the YDL works to strengthen ties between young members of diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited to the UK.
It organises cultural and social events, promotes understanding and supports new diplomats as they integrate into the UK’s political, social and cultural landscape.
