MOTORSPORT – Bahraini-British GT team 2 Seas Motorsport will be taking part this weekend in the seventh and penultimate round of the International GT Open 2025.
2 Seas have confirmed their one-off participation in the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya event, scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday.
They will be making a return to the series’ grid for the first time since 2021, when they competed in two race weekends and won both times – first in Monza in Italy and then again in Barcelona in Spain with their then-driver combination of Martin Kodric and Ethan Simioni.
This coming weekend, they will be racing with their #222 Mercedes-AMG GT3 with the duo of recent GT World Challenge Europe Bronze Cup winner and current British GT Championship leader Charles Dawson and GT4 Winter Series champion McKenzy Cresswell, who will make his GT3 debut.
“Another exciting line-up for another big weekend, and it is great to welcome McKenzy to the team alongside Charles,” said 2 Seas co-owner Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
“They have both been enjoying strong seasons so far with some impressive results, and it will be interesting to see how they combine – hopefully we can keep our 2025 form going!
“Charles has proven himself to be the man to beat on several occasions, and McKenzy makes the move up to GT3 off the back of a championship and a string of victories.
“It’s also great to be back on the International GT Open grid. It’s been a few years since our last race, but we have really good memories and scored strong results, so hopefully we can add to that.
“This will also be a dress rehearsal for the team, as we prepare to be back racing in Barcelona in a few weeks for the important GT World Challenge season-finale.”
Dawson is having a 2025 campaign, but is looking to continue gaining competitive GT3 track experience.
He is currently leading the British GT Championship GT3 drivers’ standings alongside teammate Kiern Jewiss, with one race remaining to go in the season.
The pair have scored three race wins to-date, and will arrive at the Donington Decider next month with a 28.5 points advantage. 2 Seas are also the GT3 teams’ championship table-toppers.
Most recently, Dawson added further silverware with a victory in class on his GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup debut, securing Bronze Cup honours at the Nürburgring.
Cresswell, meanwhile, is a GT3 rookie. The 19-year-old has competed through karting and single-seat formulas over recent years, before moving into GT competition for this season.
He has shown impressive form in GT4 competition, and he arrives at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya having scored victory there earlier this year.
On his way to claiming the GT4 Winter Series title, he claimed a total of six wins, four pole positions, and a further six podium results.
2 Seas’ #222 contender will run the familiar ‘palm tree’ livery, which Dawson has driven to each of his victories this year.
Along with the International GT Open, the team also continues to prepare for the closing rounds of the British GT Championship and GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, as they challenge for both championship titles, alongside planning for the upcoming winter programme.
