HIS Majesty King Hamad has described the Unesco King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education as a testament to Bahrain’s close and fruitful collaboration with the UN’s education and cultural organisation.
He made the remarks as he received United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) Director General Audrey Azoulay along with Oman Education Minister Madeeha bint Ahmed bin Nasser Al Shibaniyah, UAE Education Minister Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, Kuwait Education Minister Sayed Jalal Al Tabtabaei, Saudi Education Ministry Assistant Deputy Minister for International Affairs Dr Abdulmohsen bin Saleh Al Mohsen and Qatar Education and Higher Education Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh bin Khalifa Al Nuaimi.
The officials extended their greetings to His Majesty on the occasion of their visit to Bahrain to attend the 2025 edition of the award.
The Education Ministers conveyed the greetings and appreciation of their leaders to the King, and their best wishes to the kingdom and its people for continued progress and prosperity.
They expressed their gratitude to His Majesty for his warm hospitality.

His Majesty highlighted the significance of this distinguished award and the remarkable achievements it has fostered over the past two decades.
He highlighted Unesco’s reputation for supporting innovative projects and pioneering initiatives in education that promote exemplary and effective use of technology, thereby enhancing educational opportunities for all.
The King added with pride that the prize has attracted the attention of hundreds of scholars and researchers competing to achieve excellence through high-quality projects.
He directed continued support for the award and encouraged further collaboration with Unesco to expand the utilisation of research, studies and digital educational experiences that contribute to providing education for all.
His Majesty also commended the role of the international judging panels and their experts, while expressing appreciation for the Education Ministry’s ongoing efforts to ensure the sustainability of the prize and the effective application of its outcomes to advance education within the kingdom.
During the reception, His Majesty praised Bahrain’s recent global achievement, with the ministry securing first place internationally in the 2025 edition of the Microsoft Showcase School Programme, which included participation from schools worldwide.
This success reflects the kingdom’s commitment to employing advanced technologies to enhance the educational process, strengthening its global standing in digital education.
The King expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Unesco director general in leading the organisation, achieving its goals and enhancing its humanitarian role in its areas of competence.
His Majesty congratulated the winners of the Unesco King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education 2025 during the ceremony held today at the University of Bahrain on the occasion of the prize’s 20th anniversary.
He also highlighted the advanced level of research recognised by the award and wishing the recipients continued success
The King commended the level of co-operation between Bahrain and Unesco in educational, cultural and heritage sectors, as well as their joint efforts to foster dialogue across diverse cultures.
His Majesty reaffirmed Bahrain’s support for Unesco’s initiatives and humanitarian activities, reflecting the kingdom’s rich civilisational heritage, commitment to coexistence and openness to cultures and civilisations, and its adherence to values of justice and tolerance.
Ms Azoulay expressed her appreciation to His Majesty for Bahrain’s support of Unesco’s programmes and humanitarian initiatives.
