MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-British GT team 2 Seas Motorsport had a challenging day out on track yesterday ahead of today’s fifth and final round in the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, taking place at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.
2 Seas’ #222 crew of Charles Dawson, Ben Barnicoat, and Thomas Lebbon – driving their Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo – were fourth amongst Bronze Cup competitors during free practice with a best lap time of one minute 41.778 seconds. Then, in the pre-qualifying session yesterday, 2 Seas were 13th from the 16 cars in their category, clocking a quickest mark of 1:43.577.
They will be hoping to bounce back today in time for qualifying at 11.25am, which will set the grid for the three-hour race later this afternoon, which is scheduled to flag off at 4pm. Both times are Bahrain.
Meanwhile, 2 Seas are also operating the #33 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo of Verstappen.com Racing over the race weekend. The car is being driven by Harry King, Chris Lulham, and Thierry Vermeulen.
In free practice, they ranked sixth amongst the eight Gold Cup contenders with a best lap of 1:42.048. Later in pre-qualifying, they were sixth once again with a fastest time of 1:42.519.
In Barcelona today, 2 Seas’ #222 trio will be looking to add to their victory in class at the previous round of the season last August at the Nürburgring in Germany – their debut run in the championship this campaign.
Verstappen.com Racing, meanwhile, are aiming to secure the series’ Gold Cup title. They looked to have sealed the Gold Cup title with victory at the Nürburgring, but a post-race penalty dropped them to third on the race classification and kept the fight alive. They still lead the way in the standings ahead of today’s finale, though their advantage has been trimmed to 16 points from their closest challengers.
