THE government pledged full support for the legislative process and national developmental goals as Bahrain’s National Assembly entered a crucial phase of the sixth legislative term.
Speaking during the opening sessions of Parliament and the Shura Council, separately, last night, Parliament and Shura Council Affairs Minister Ghanim Al Buainain underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to co-ordination and collaboration with both chambers.
“We are fully committed to supporting Parliament and the Shura Council in all their efforts that contribute to the progress and prosperity of the nation,” he said.
“This is a partnership grounded in our shared responsibility to advance development, implement national programmes and meet the aspirations of our leadership and people.”
He expressed appreciation for the constructive role played by legislators, highlighting the government’s determination to act in the spirit of teamwork to deliver on strategic objectives.
Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam, who also spoke, welcomed the new legislative session and reflected on the key themes outlined in His Majesty King Hamad’s addressed earlier in the day.
“We are honoured by the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad, and we are deeply grateful for the continued support for the legislative authority,” he said.
“This support strengthens our resolve to serve the nation with integrity and dedication, in alignment with Bahrain’s comprehensive development trajectory.”
He described the royal speech as ‘inspiring and visionary’, laying the foundation for the next phase of national work. Parliament, he said, will strive to translate those royal directives into concrete legislative outcomes.
“With a deep sense of pride and responsibility, we commit to implementing the high aspirations embedded in His Majesty’s address,” he stated.
“We see this as a national obligation that guides our legislative priorities moving forward.”
Mr Al Musallam also extended his appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, praising his leadership in strengthening the national economy, supporting innovation and enhancing the livelihoods of citizens.
“We commend the tireless efforts of His Royal Highness in driving economic growth and introducing bold, people-centric initiatives.
“Whether through job creation, support for productive sectors, or raising living standards, the focus remains on putting the Bahraini citizen first.”
He added that the legislative agenda for this session will focus on improving the quality of life, promoting sustainable development and enacting laws that reflect the evolving needs of Bahraini society.
Mr Al Musallam also reaffirmed Parliament’s intention to deepen co-operation with the Shura Council.
He added that the opening of the fourth session marks a pivotal year in Bahrain’s legislative calendar, as both houses aim to address pressing economic, social and policy challenges with renewed legislative energy.
He said that with clear commitments from the executive branch and alignment between both the chambers, expectations are high that this session will deliver tangible reforms and impactful national initiatives.
“We carry the hopes of the people and the guidance of our leadership,” said Mr Al Musallam.
