HANDBALL – CHINA edged past Kazakhstan 35-30 yesterday to climb to the top of the table in the girls’ handball tournament of the third Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
The Chinese claimed their fourth win in five matches to improve to eight points – tied with Iran, who have played one game less. The Iranians were 32-16 winners against Thailand in another match yesterday, while India ousted Hong Kong 33-17. Three more girls’ games are scheduled for today – the Kazakhs face the Thais at 11am, Hong Kong play Uzbekistan at 1pm, and Iran clash with India at 3pm.
Also this evening, the boys’ semi-finals will be taking place. Saudi Arabia take on China at 5pm, followed by Bahrain battling Kuwait at 7pm.
