Bahrain has secured membership on the board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) Institute for Statistics.
Education Minister and Bahrain National Commission for Education, Science and Culture chairman Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma expressed pride in the national support provided by His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He said this support has enabled the ministry to compete internationally and secure membership in one of Unesco’s key bodies, the Unesco Institute for Statistics (UIS).
Dr Juma congratulated Education Ministry director of strategic planning Dr Shaikha Abdulla Mafiz on earning the membership with distinction.
He noted that this achievement reflects the strength and capability of Bahrain’s education professionals, who continue to prove their talent and competitiveness in regional and international forums.
The announcement was made on the sidelines of the 43rd session of the Unesco General Conference, where Dr Mafiz, the kingdom’s nominee from the Education Ministry, was elected to the board of the UIS.
This marks another achievement added to Bahrain’s record of success in international arenas.
This accomplishment represents international recognition of the competence and expertise of Bahraini professionals in educational statistics and strategic planning, reflecting growing confidence in the kingdom’s role in advancing education at the regional and global levels.
