HOCKEY – The Bahrain Hockey Association (BHA) announced the launch of the Bahrain Hockey League 2025-26, continuing its commitment to advancing the sport and providing a competitive platform for players across the kingdom.
The season will once again feature the dynamic six-a-side format, designed to encourage participation, speed, and skill development.
The league will bring together local clubs, expatriate teams, and individual players.
BHA president Sami Ali stated: “The Bahrain Hockey League this year is creating a vibrant platform for players of all backgrounds.”
“This season, we are proud to complement the league with internationally recognised development programmes that will raise the technical and professional standards of hockey in Bahrain.”
In line with this vision, the BHA, in collaboration with the FIH Academy and Asia Hockey Federation (AHF), is introducing two globally recognised certification programmes: the FIH Level One Coach (L1C) Award and the FIH Level One Hockey ID Umpire (L1U ID) Award.
The L1C Award marks the first step on the FIH Coach Education Pathway.
It is designed for coaches, teachers, and volunteers who wish to begin coaching at the initiation, beginner, or foundation level, under the guidance of a structured programme or higher-level coach.
No prior experience in hockey or coaching is required.
The L1U ID Award is the entry point on the FIH Hockey ID Umpire Education Pathway.
It is tailored for individuals who wish to officiate Hockey ID matches across various age groups – from children to adults – equipping them with the skills to umpire in inclusive hockey environments.
Both qualifications are globally recognised by the FIH Academy, though their equivalence to national association standards and adherence to local regulations may vary across the 140 FIH member nations.
Through these combined initiatives, the BHA continues to strengthen its player base, nurture technical expertise, and support the sustainable growth of hockey in the kingdom.
