Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi said that the Al Wadi project in Al Buhair and the Hoorat Sanad project continue to make steady progress in construction and infrastructure works.
She noted that both developments are among the ministry’s major projects in the Southern Governorate delivered through the Government Land Development Rights Programme in partnership with the private sector.
The minister said that construction at the Al Wadi project has reached 89 per cent, with infrastructure work at 65pc. At the Hoorat Sanad project, construction progress has reached 58pc, while infrastructure work stands at 13pc.
This came during a field visit by the minister to both sites, attended by officials from the ministry and Eskan Bank, as well as representatives from Al Saraya and Al Namal, the developers of the two projects.
Ms Al Romaihi reviewed engineering works, the implementation schedule for construction and infrastructure phases, and adherence to the approved timelines. She also examined project layouts and the updated housing unit designs developed to meet the needs of Bahraini beneficiary families.
She said the progress achieved reflects the strong co-operation between the ministry and the property developers working within the Government Land Development Rights Programme. She added that seven projects have now been implemented across the kingdom, with growing interest from real estate companies in bidding for new developments.
The minister highlighted progress at the Al Wadi project, developed with Al Saraya and comprising 76 housing units. She emphasised the shared commitment of the ministry and the developer to completing the project on schedule, enabling the early handover of units to beneficiaries who reserved through the ‘Baity’ platform during the Innovation Summit in the Social Housing Sector last April.
She said the Hoorat Sanad project, developed in co-operation with Al Namal and comprising 47 units, is recording steady progress and accelerating work. “The ministry will open electronic off-plan reservations in the coming weeks, and a show unit is being prepared to allow prospective beneficiaries under the housing financing programme to review the design before making a reservation.”
