JIU-JITSU – Bahrain's jiu-jitsu national team bagged an impressive seven medals, including two gold and five bronze, in the 2025 World Championships, organised by Ju-Jitsu International Federation held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The event featured competition in youth, juniors, adults, and masters categories, with the Bahrainis coming away with podium places in all four.
The two gold medals were won by Abdulla Al Shaikh Ali, who also added two bronze medals, and Pedro Bisi de Jesus. The other bronze medals were claimed by Dr Ahmed Abdulhameed Al Aradi, Bader Jamal Al Doseri, and Isa Ismaeel.
Ali struck gold in the men’s U21 no-gi under-56kg class, and then claimed his two bronze medals in the men’s U21 and men’s adults under-56kg weight divisions. De Jesus bagged his gold medal in the men’s U18 under-85kg category.
Meanwhile, in the masters events, Dr Al Aradi won his bronze medal in men’s master two over-94kg category, Al Doseri took bronze in the men’s master one under-77kg class, and Ismaeel took bronze in the men’s master one under-69kg division.
On this occasion, General Sports Authority (GSA) vice-chairman and Bahrain Combat Sports Council (BCSC) president Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa expressed his great appreciation for the unwavering support and high patronage of the wise leadership for the sports sector, praising the distinguished efforts made by Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, GSA chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the attention, care, and future vision that Shaikh Khalid gives to developing all sports, especially combat sports.
Shaikh Salman also thanked the Bahrain Jiu-Jitsu Federation (BJJF) for their efforts, headed by BCSC board member and BJJF president Redha Monfaredi, and all BJJF members, in creating the appropriate climate for the team to participate in this international competition.
Shaikh Salman further directed his thanks and appreciation to the national team’s technical and administrative staff for their great efforts in raising the athletes’ level of readiness to participate in the world championships and achieve positive results, which add to the series of accolades won by combat sports in the impressive record of Bahrain.
For his part, Monfaredi expressed his pride in the national team’s success, noting that these results are the fruit of the wise leadership’s and sports leadership’s support, as well as the careful planning and joint efforts between the BJJF’s technical and administrative bodies.
