GAELIC GAMES – The Arabian Celts Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) Club hosted the 24th Bahrain Games at Bahrain Rugby Football Club (BRFC) in Saar yesterday, welcoming Gaelic football teams from across the Gulf for a full day of sport, music, and community spirit.
This year’s event saw 31 competing teams from Bahrain, the UAE, and Qatar, across men’s and ladies’ intermediate and social divisions.
The day was filled with high-energy matches, entertaining on pitch battles and celebration – a true showcase of the inclusive and community-driven ethos that defines Gaelic games in the Middle East.
Spectators were treated to an upbeat atmosphere throughout the day, with live music in the evening rounding off the festivities.
Speaking after the event, Arabian Celts chairman John Quinn praised the dedication of all participating teams and volunteers who made the tournament possible.
“The Bahrain Games are more than just a sporting event – they’re a celebration of friendship, teamwork, and cultural exchange,” he said.
“We’re incredibly grateful to be able to play our national sport here in Bahrain, a country that so warmly embraces diversity and inclusiveness.”
“It’s fantastic to see so many teams travelling from the UAE and Qatar this year, and the spirit of Gaelic games continuing to thrive here in Bahrain.”
The 24th Bahrain Games once again highlighted the strong sense of community and sporting excellence that continues to define the Arabian Celts and Gaelic games across the Gulf region.
