His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa participated as a keynote speaker at TEDxDilmun.
The event, held for the first time in Bahrain, attracted wide participation from influential figures from Bahrain, the region and the world, under a theme based on four main pillars: Exploration, Discovery, Growth, and Engagement.
It took place in the presence of Tourism Minister Fatima Al Sairafi, Youth Affairs Minister Rawan Tawfiqi and a number of officials.
Shaikh Nasser shared a range of personal experiences and humanitarian insights that inspired the attendees, speaking about success, determination and discipline.
He praised the resolve and perseverance of the youth in facing challenges with ‘a strong spirit that knows no retreat’.
He described the ‘noise’ that often stops people at the starting line – fear, doubt, hesitation – and contrasted it with the mindset of a winner who pushes through.
“The difference isn’t fitness. It’s attitude – the human being who hears the ‘noise’ and says no.”
Shaikh Nasser challenged the audience to visualise themselves five years into the future and to acknowledge the dreams they have not yet pursued.
“If the answer is yes, then please – start the journey.”
He closed the speech with a practical task: “Think of the label you’ve given yourself – ‘not smart,’ ‘not strong,’ ‘not enough.’ Write it in your phone. Now, delete it.
“Within 72 hours, do something – send that email, build something, start something. Take one physical step towards the impossible.”
Shaikh Nasser commended the organisation of TEDxDilmun, affirming that it was an outstanding platform that brought ideas and creativity together under one roof and provided young people with a space to express themselves and exchange experiences.
The first edition of TEDxDilmun, held yesterday at Raffles Al Areen Palace, featured a diverse programme combining inspiring ideas and rich dialogues, attracting influential personalities from inside Bahrain and abroad to share experiences and expertise that enhance creativity.
