BOXING – An exciting eight-bout card is set to feature in the highly anticipated Royal Rumble IV, taking place tomorrow night at Crowne Plaza Bahrain, to be headlined by fighters representing Bahrain’s Royal Guard and the UK Armed Forces (UKAF).
The kingdom’s popular boxing event is to be held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, with proceeds going to the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF).
Seven elite bouts and one junior bout will be taking place on fight night.
The juniors will kick off the proceedings with a 60kg clash between Bahrain’s Abdulrahman Al Mudahki and Rayan Altayaar from Saudi Arabia.
The opening elite contest will then see the Royal Guard’s Isaac Zaman take on the UKAF’s Dylan Swales in a 67kg fight.
It will be followed by Bahrain’s Medhi Sahak facing Khalid Al Marri from Saudi in another 60kg affair, and then the Royal Guard’s Israel Davis takes on the UKAF’s Dominik Zieba in a 90kg battle.
An interval will then be held, during which a charity auction will take place with all kinds of valuable prizes, including boxing memorabilia, on offer.
The night’s four remaining fights include a 57kg elite women’s bout between Bahrain’s Maryam Khamis and Saudi’s Khaltoum Hantoul.
The Royal Guard’s Isaac Augustine then locks horns with the UKAF’s Kieran Cooper in an over-92kg contest.
Abdulla Alabdullah will take on Blaine Lambert in a 67kg affair, and then the programme will wrap up with the Royal Guard’s Prakash Limbu trading jabs with the UKAF’s Leon Moulds.
Prior to tomorrow’s Royal Rumble IV, the official weigh-ins will take place this evening at The Avenues Bahrain.
It is scheduled to start at 7pm and it will be held at Euro Motors Boutique.
Also in preparation for this year’s event, the Royal Guard’s boxers stepped into the ring earlier this month for the third edition of International Boxing Night, held at the Infantry Training Centre (ITC) in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, England.
Six of the kingdom’s best took on fighters from the British Army’s development and modernisation efforts, the British Army’s Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment/ITC Catterick, and the British Army’s Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, winning two of their hotly contested six bouts.
Royal Rumble IV will feature a number of guest stars from the world of boxing, including two-time world champion and Athens 2004 Olympics silver-medallist Amir Khan, WBO cruiserweight and WBC bridgerweight world champion Lawrence Okolie, WBA (Regular) super-middleweight world champion Rocky Fielding, former middleweight world champion Darren Barker, and ex-super featherweight world champion Barry Jones.
A number of other stars from the world of entertainment are set to be in attendance.
Furthermore, there will be plenty to enjoy outside of the ring, with popular Bahraini singer Amal Al Anbary performing live.
This year’s event will be aiming to continue building on the success of the previous three editions of Royal Rumble, which is now established as Bahrain’s biggest charity boxing event.
Royal Rumble III raised around BD60,000 for the RHF, with the Royal Guard maintaining their winning record after taking six of their eight bouts against the British Army’s Royal Engineers.
In the first fight night in 2022, Bahrain’s Royal Guard boxers took on the British Army’s Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and won eight of the nine bouts.
In 2023, the Royal Guard defeated the British Army’s Parachute Regiment in six of the nine contests.
