An IndiGo flight from Kuwait to Hyderabad was diverted to Mumbai on Tuesday after authorities received an email threatening a 'human bomb' on board.
The threat has since been declared a hoax.
Flight 6E1234 was rerouted to Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport under emergency protocols after officials at Hyderabad airport received the threat while the aircraft was en route.
Security teams were on standby and immediately boarded the aircraft upon landing.
After a thorough inspection, they confirmed that no suspicious items or explosives were found on board.
According to a Press Trust of India (PTI) report, authorities have now confirmed the threat was a hoax. News18 reported that the warning came via an email sent to Hyderabad airport officials. Authorities treated the message as credible and acted swiftly.
An IndiGo spokesperson stated that the airline followed all safety protocols and fully co-operated with authorities during the security checks before the aircraft was cleared for operations.
“We made every effort to minimise inconvenience to our customers, including providing refreshments and sharing regular updates. As always, the safety and security of our customers, crew, and aircraft remain our highest priority,” the spokesperson added.
